September has been a busy and productive month, made so enjoyable by this glorious weather!

Four months on from The Local Offer website launch, the time has come to review the site and service successes and functions and resolve those early teething problems that were overlooked in the enthusiasm to launch this new and independent social enterprise.

A review of how the website is functioning is currently being conducted, with views taken from current members, from visitors and via social media (always a good source of instant and objective comment!). I will report progress in due course, but for now, round two of website development is underway and will represent a significant investment in tailoring the site to the needs of its audience: parents and carers, schools and local authorities and providers of SEND services.

New Members

I'm delighted to welcome new members to The Local Offer, increasing the capacity of this service to offer SEND services in a wider network of Local Authorities.

Nigel Utton Consultancy joined early in September and is offering a range of training and consultancy services

Dept for Education SEND Updates

The Dept for Education have produced, late in August, an excellent range of information flyers for schools, colleges, parents and local authorities. These have been added to the News & Events - Dept for Education page  http://www.thelocaloffer.co.uk/dept-for-education

Do please take a look at these leaflets and encourage their use in schools, children's centres, colleges and early years' settings.
