Pathological Demand Avoidance Training & Support aims to improve understanding of PDA and in particular how the strategies needed to support children and young people affected by Pathological Demand Avoidance differ considerably to typical Autism. This may be in the classroom, in the home, or for professionals working with children and young people with either a diagnosis or suspected PDA.
Our services include regular small training workshops held in both London and Surrey for parents and professionals. The training is written and delivered by Karen Whichello who is herself a mother of a teenage son with PDA and who previously worked for two years in a special school supporting young people with PDA.
We also support parents on a 1-1 either in their own home, on the telephone or Skype to develop strategies on how to help manage the considerable anxiety a child or young person with PDA suffers.
Other services include school observations to support schools be able to improve the learning outcomes and manage either the anxiety and / or challenging behaviour schools can struggle with. This can be either instigated by parents or schools.
