Octavia House Schools are independent therapeutic schools for pupils and students aged 5-14 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

Our school site in Vauxhall caters for children aged 5-10 (years 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5) whilst our Walworth site works with children aged 11-14 (years 6, 7, 8 & 9).

From September 2016 our Kennington site will open to students in years 10 & 11.

Our provision is innovative in that a therapeutic curriculum underpins all that we do. Each and every child has a key worker, a key therapist and follows a bespoke curriculum built around their specific needs.

Please see our website or our latest Ofsted report for detailed information about our schools’ offer.

Referral Process

Referrals to our schools are made by a child's local authority. You can express a preference for an Octavia House School to your local authority’s special educational needs (SEN) team and should they consider us able to meet your child’s needs, they will contact the school to discuss a potential placement referral. Referrals for placement are always made to the head of school and accompanied by the child's EHC Plan/Statement of SEN (where appropriate) and associated reports. An initial assessment for a placement will be made based on the documentation provided. This may be followed by an offer of an interview and visit to the school for the child, parent/carer and representative from the referral agency. A final decision on a placement offer will be made by the executive head within two days after the interview. If the placement is confirmed by both the school and local authority, an admission date for the placement will be arranged.
