The Wellbeing (IAPT) Service is a free NHS service offering quick access to psychological support and treatment across Hertfordshire.
One in four of us will experience difficulties with our mental health in our lifetime. The Wellbeing Service aims to reduce distress and improve general mental health through teaching effective coping strategies which are based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
CBT is an evidence based psychological therapy recommended by NICE. CBT enables you to learn effective techniques and skills to manage distressing emotions. By understanding how our thoughts and behaviours can influence how we feel, we can change our emotional response and improve wellbeing.
Our team is made up of a range of clinicians and mental health professionals. We deliver treatment in a variety of ways to ensure we can support those needing help as flexibly as possible. Interventions include guided self-help using self-help materials, facilitated computerised CBT programmes, Skills based workshops and individual sessions.
The service offers support to Carers, Older Adults, Young People and those managing Long Term Health Conditions. We can also put you in touch with other local services who may also be able to support you.
If you feel you may need some support, and you are over 16 years, please get in touch by calling 0300 777 0707. Alternatively, you can speak with your GP to discuss this further.
