Children are aged 8-15 and come from all backgrounds with a range of needs.
CHICKS has three retreats in Derbyshire, Devon and Cornwall, all offering a week of fun activities and positive experiences to give children the boost they need and a much-needed break from their daily struggles.
Professionals working with the children can refer them for a break -http://www.chicks.org.uk/refer-a-child-6
Then it is the professionals' responsibility to support the family to transport the child to and from our pick-up points. This is the only cost that CHICKS cannot cover. Once the children arrive, all activities, food, accommodation, and after-care is fully funded.
CHICKS children often leave us feeling a boost in confidence and self-esteem, with many positive memories to support them and inspire them for their futures. Many children referred to CHICKS are on the SEN register and have mild to moderate learning difficulties.
CHICKS are happy to support children on the register and they have found that learning outside of the classroom, developing social skills and other active interests have truly enhanced their lives.
We do have limitations in supporting children with more severe needs and physical disabilities so please do contact the Coordination Team to discuss your referral on an individual basis: 01822 811020 (option 2) or firstname.lastname@example.org
